If you like walking you will be spoilt for choice. There are many walks which can be started from the Ravenswood and many more within a short bus or car ride. These include access to 3 longer distance footpaths; the closest of which The South West Coast Path is only 400 metres from the Ravenswood. The South West Coast path runs along the entire coastline and provides some superb cliff and beach walking. The John Musgrove Trail is a 35 mile inland route running from Maidencombe, to the north of Torbay to Paignton in the south. The route takes in many points of interest, including Brunel House, Cockington village, Totnes and Greenway (Agatha Christies home). The Templer Way is an 18 mile route, running from Haytor on Dartmoor down to Teignmouth, via Newton Abbot.

Examples of walks from the Ravenswood

A pleasant walk from the Ravenswood, taking in part of the Sout West Coast Path, is to walk from Torquay Harbour to Daddyhole Plain and back. A longer walk, also using the Coast Path is to explore Torbay's Coral Coast which has been awarded Geo Park status. The walk also takes in Kent's Cavern. A shorter walk taking in local points of interest around Torquay is to walk the Agatha Christie mile.

Other nearby walking

To the north of Torbay is the Teign Estuary and the area between Torbay and here, is a good place to walk. Some suggested routes are shown in the link below.

A short ride across the Bay from Torquay harbour is Brixham and Berry Head which provides a spectacular cliff viewpoint.
